Welcome to independentcatholicism.org, an informational site about the Independent Catholic movement. Independent Catholicism is a collection of hundreds of Catholic jurisdictions (denominations) throughout the world. There is no one authority over all the churches, and the theologies and liturgies of independent communities are quite varied. This site seeks to explain some features shared by most of these churches and to point the way to resources for further exploration.

After the site launches, I hope to post major news about the movement to this blog on the main page — formation of new communities, ordinations to the priesthood and episcopal consecrations, and so forth. However, there is no news yet. If you would like something posted here, please email me. I don’t have any kind of guidelines yet, so I’ll be using my judgment about what to post until I can write up the guidelines.
